At this roundtable, we’ll be talking about what learning is, how it happens, and the teacher’s role in the process. We’ll also look at learning strategies, what they are, and how they can help our learners.

The main points will be:

• what is learning?
• the teacher’s role: should the teacher be “the sage on the stage” (transmission model) or “the guide by the side” (constructivist model)?
• learning strategies and techniques: which learner strategies are helpful and which aren’t?
• how much learning goes on without us?
